well. My babies survived me leaving them for 4 nights and 5 days. sniff sniff. I DEFINitELy talked of them WAY TOO MUCH.... And for sure missed them like total crazy...... See self, you knew they would do just fine!!!! Look out aunts of mine, i may just book many more trips to come...... Thank you times 2 or 5 for keeping the littlest of my brood.... Meanwhile.... we have returned from a most wonderful and beautiful ski trip to Beaver Creek, Colorado. The snow was perfectly powder-y for perfect skiing... The sun did shine the WHOLE time, the temps. were very very pleasant and not too cold.... My biggest baby was a skiing champion thanks to his mere idol "uncle Chris", his personal ski trainer.... and his mamas insurance policy to allow the skiing to happen for him..... there was no whining of coldness, frozen fingers, frozen toes, or tiredness.... even on 2 hours of sleep from a late flight... My 5 year old skied 4 plus hours a day, snow shoed on mountains, "man tracked" his uncle chris on mountains, "hunted" animals, ice skated... we enjoyed A LOT of delicious food and all around wished we had more time...... but its good to get home, its BETTER to have my crew within reach and love on!!!! Daddyc, oh... well, yes, he made it just fine to Arizona to watch the tigers play tomorrow night, i have a "small" feeling he is enjoying himself.......
FIRST time with our snow skiing legs on....
if you have littles who are looking to learn to ski or just are "little" Beaver Creek is the ONLY place to go, they are the most family friendly resort village i know.... And they hosted a slew of these escalators up the little inclines to practice on.... we stayed here oh, all of 15 minutes before throwing our 5 year old on the "big lift" to the very top of the mountain...
Shall we say "sink or swim" OR "SKI OR DIE" I guess the bad part, is none of us ever really worried, or maybe the bad part is his mama didn't pack him a snack, offer him lunch at a normal "lunch" time, we just skiied to the bottom & rode the lifts back up until afternoon, we had Chris to map our trail and we were off.....
looking back, should i have worried about my child more? Nah, he did GREAT!!!! And just like a boy, he begged to do the olympic jumps and the hidden woods trails.... next year my dear, or when we become an olympic skier rather...
the beautiful little village still hosted all of their Christmas lights which were breathtaking against the black of the night and the white snow.....
we admired the fabulous homes tucked away on the mountain side and happen to catch the real estate ad for one for sale... ONLY 12.5 million.... SOLD!!!!
my monkey begged his daddy to ice skate with him.... i am not quite sure who was holding who up there!!!
And when you topped some lifts, there were nice folks offering granola bars and shots of hot chocolate... Service, like i said, was WAY UP to Par!!! And if you know me, you know, i LIKE good service whether i indulge or not. wink wink.
sometimes these wild monkeys chose to do "off the beating path" trails just for fun and added extreme-ness.....
Big Daddy on the other hand really should NOT do tiny little unmarked woods trails.... But it gave us a good deep hysterical laughing moment.... I am still laughing thinking about watching big daddy hurl over the man made "jumps"
And after skiing all day... the look....
we snow shoed on the mountain tops too!
Another moment of hysterical laughter came when you fell into waist deep snow.... to give credit where it is due... It is harder than you think to get out of deep powdery snow with boat like snow shoes on.... But so darn funny!
tracking the wild animals....to no avail.
laughing hysterically and wondering what in the world a "hot naughty" is and kinda wanting to try one???
Charlie wanted a chance at photography to get big daddy CLOSE UP... He did a great job!!!
we took a sleigh ride to mountain tops to eat what may have been the best food i have ever put into my mouth..... the highly recommend Beano's... We debated if we should buy the cabin and live and run the restaurant forever.
we had a little banjo picker to entertain us, he was from Tennessee and was the kindest ole fella there ever was!!!
a true life size lincoln log cabin.
great fire, great entertainment, good bottle of wine, family, fan-tab-ul-ous food....
If you can ride a sleigh going 20 mph in 12 degrees and snow BLOWING on you and LAUGH, i mean deep belly laugh, the whole way down the mountain you are
1. in GREAT company
2. with the ones you love
3. having the time of your life
Its safe to sum up our vacation saying, we missed our aunt holly, we really really wished we had baby Caroline with us and are pretty sure she would ski at her ripe age of almost 13 months old- we knew Whitmore would "roll" down the mountain with no complaints, we knew my Sam i am would be able to ski no problem but may possibly complain about the cold??? We made our plans for next year and wondered how in the world uncle Chris would rope the last 3 babies on the mountain at the same time?? So question everyone has ask.
Do you regret or wish you would have done ski school?
ARE YOU KIDDING?
i had a personal trainer for Charlie and by day 2 and 3 he was smoking us all down the mountain at ease.
Is is needless to say we had a MOSt wonDeRful past week, did you?
