to my very own baby.
Dear Whitmore,
last week you turned 3 years old, I can hardly believe it. time is flying by..... You were brought into this world amongst caos in our little happy home- Our lolly was sick, that was my mom, we were building our house, and you had a 12 month old terror for a big brother and another 3 year old brother..... we were busy!!! You peacefully jumped right into "our" mix and day 1 from the hospital we were at a local park, granted you and i perched in the swings and watched we were still there enjoying the spring day!!!!
Honestly, all i can say, is you were a really good baby, i remember NO strong likes or dislikes.... But the ONLY thing in 3 years i have found that you are interested in is sports, that it. Believe me, i have tried all different things. You were born to play ball, it is what you love to do.... all the time!! You have never been a tv watcher which is great in the grand scheme of things but pressing when i need to cook or clean or workout or DO ANYTHING without you.... You will watch a short half of dora the explorer sometimes while dribbling a basketball..... The rules went out the window about playing ball in the house with you because THAT IS ALL YOU DO and i can't have you wandering the streets at such a young age, wink wink.
You love to play with "older" boys, i often feel sorry for you and keep you home from mothers day out atleast one day a week (and you only go 2) because you are much more like a 6 year old than your actual age of class TWO. Daddy and i are amazed constantly of your knowledge and just little sweet and spunky personality in general. You are a rule follower but are wild amongst fellow friends and older boys! YOU LOVE v8 juice..... You are a pretty good eater too but on your own terms, YOU decide what you will try by looking at it.... we have learned the hard way that this is what it is and now it is fine. you like to sleep with Sam and Sam likes for you to too so that works out. You like daddy to tell you a story every night after reading books, for almost a year it was always the 3 little pigs story (you will ask big daddy to tell you that story all day everyday still....) now we have created some more.... you love to ride your scooter and are really good at it, you like to swing, and ride your bike... but most of all you TALK constantly... constantly, have i mentioned you like to talk.... almost on repeat you ask ANYONE around "wanna shoot bassets with me (a.k.a. baskets)" "what play baseball?" "wanna throw the football with me?" "mom, did you see that?" (usually this happens ALL day everyday) You like to play tennis or hit the ball back and forth, you love golf, needless to say we have yet to find a sport with a ball that you don't LOVE.
You have done a season of gymnastics and LOVED it! Today you start soccer and tee ball and are super pumped! Aunt Emily got you your size 3 ball and it is to be determined whether you will wear JEANS to practice or not. You are my first child to DEMAND your outfit... and it is ALWAYS jeans, a jersey, or what you call a "button shirt" which is a golf shirt/polo- So i have decided it doesn't really matter and you pick your clothes out everyday, you like to have your clothes on, socks and shoes as soon as you wake up (that is because you head straight out the door to shoot baskets while we drink coffee, juice and watch cartoons) You had a hard time putting on your sunday clothes this past sunday but i won't budge there. we DON'T wear jeans to church at our church, i think you will be fine one day about that rule????
You are such a blessing whitmore mitchell smith. We love you more than life. Thanks for being YOU. XOXO, mama
on your real birthday you had mothers day out... so we made some bassetball cookies and baseball cookies, we went and you picked out some napkins and plates. And we celebrated with your little class.
first things first you opened some gifts. Your big gift from Mimi and us was a basketball goal. You were thrilled to say the least.
you have family that loves you and shares a love for basketball... north carolina basketball!!!
we ended the day with a family party at the local pizza joint, davenports. You love to "play" games and run wild! Your Mimi, Big Daddy and the Watkin's clan joined us for pizza and cake to celebrate your little life.
we love you to the moon and back and back again whitmore
